Third day - Monday, July 16

Hola a todos!
Monday was our first day of classes, and also the first day of our volunteer projects.  Classes seem to be going well.  The kids are divided into 4 groups, with 4 students in each class, and one with 5.
In the afternoon we went to our volunteer projects.  Mercedes, Katie, Tommy, Henry, and Ana Lucia are volunteering at the Colibri center for children.  The kids are from poor families and drop in to the center after school.  They first work on homework, then have game time, then are given a hot meal.  They had a great time playing games with the children, who all come to Colibri in their school uniforms and look very handsome.
Kayla Dillon, Wilson, Jesse, Molly, and Hannah are at the Remar orphanage. They went to the girls' orphanage (there is a boys' building also) and spent a few hours with the girls.  It is a very humble place and volunteer help is much appreciated.  Most of the little girls engaged right away with our kids.  The children are so cute!  Unfortunately, we learned that 3 of the girls have head lice, so we aren't allowed to be there as we might get them too and possibly spread them to the host families. we will go to the boys' orphanage today.
Emma, Elias, Matt, Kayla Dupont, Halle, David, and Brocque went to the San Nicolás Urraca center for boys.  They played some fútbol and had a good time. I didn't get a chance to see this place but all who went there gave good reports.
After volunteering this afternoon, we will have a "Huayno Cusqueño" dance class.  Fotos to follow!
